Als die Stadt Limburg an der Lahn ihre jüngste Erfolgsmeldung veröffentlichte, klang das nach einer klaren Entwarnung: Das Gewerbesteueraufkommen erreicht mit **48,2 Millionen Euro** einen neuen Rekord, der ursprünglich für 2025 geplante Fehlbetrag von **rund 5,7 Millionen Euro** verwandelt sich laut Finanzstatusbericht in einen **Überschuss von etwa zwei Millionen Euro**. Gleichzeitig investiert die Stadt mit **über 22 Millionen Euro** so viel wie nie zuvor.

Gerade diese Kombination aus überraschendem Haushaltsumschwung und Rekordinvestitionen war für uns Anlass, genauer nachzufragen. Denn noch im September war im Rathaus von einem deutlichen Minus die Rede. Wie belastbar ist diese finanzielle Wende – und was bedeutet sie für die kommenden Jahre?

 [##  Rekord bei der Gewerbesteuer bringt Limburger Haushalt ins Plus

Limburg - Die Stadt Limburg kann für das laufende Haushaltsjahr eine deutliche finanzielle Wende vermelden. Statt des ursprünglich erwarteten Defizits von rund 5,7 Millionen Euro rechnet die Stadt nun mit einem Überschuss von etwa zwei Millionen Euro. Ausschlaggebend dafür ist ein Rekordaufkommen bei der Gewerbesteuer in Höhe von 48,2 Millionen Euro – rund neun Millionen Euro mehr als im Haushalt veranschlagt.

Damit übertrifft die Stadt den bisherigen Höchstwert aus dem Jahr 2024 um rund 800.000 Euro. Nach Angaben des städtischen Kämmereiamts verbleibt jedoch nur etwa die Hälfte der Mehreinnahmen bei der Kommune. Gründe dafür sind unter anderem die Gewerbesteuerumlage an das Land, steigende Kreis- und Schulumlagen sowie künftig geringere Schlüsselzuweisungen.
