Limburg – Der Limburger Bischof Georg Bätzing, Vorsitzender der Deutschen Bischofskonferenz, hat sich in seinen jüngsten Äußerungen klar gegen die Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) positioniert. Wenige Tage vor der anstehenden Landtagswahl in Thüringen am 1. September 2024 bekräftigte er seine Warnung an die Gläubigen, der rechtsgerichteten Partei ihre Stimme zu geben. Seine Aussagen unterstreichen die wachsende Sorge der katholischen Kirche über den Einfluss extremistischer Kräfte in der Politik.

Am vergangenen Wochenende kam es bundesweit zu Protesten "gegen rechts und gegen die AfD". Auch in Limburg kam es zu einer Großdemonstration. Wir waren als Journalisten vor Ort und berichten hier über unsere Eindrücke und die Redebeiträge auf den Kundgebungen.
